Solar panels ireland grant
SEAI provides grants up to €1,800 for solar panel installations, making solar affordable for Irish homeowners.
Grant amounts
- Up to 2 kWp: €700 per kWp (€1,400 at 2 kWp)
- 2-4 kWp: €700 per kWp for the first 2 kWp, then €200 per kWp (€1,600 at 3 kWp)
- 4 kWp+: €1,800 (maximum)
Eligibility
- Primary residence
- Built before 2021
- Property owner
- Current BER certificate
- SEAI-registered installer
How to claim
- Choose SEAI-registered installer
- Installer applies on your behalf
- Grant approved
- Installation completed
- Grant paid to installer (reduces your bill)
Cost examples
4 kW system:
- Cost: €7,000
- Grant: €1,800
- You pay: €5,200
5 kW + battery:
- Cost: €12,000
- Grant: €1,800 (solar only — batteries are not grant-aided)
- You pay: €10,200
