Editorial Policy
How Kilovolt is written
Kilovolt (kV) aims to be useful in the long term: neutral tone, clear definitions, and sources you can verify.
Scope and intent
Kilovolt covers home energy topics in Ireland (solar, EV charging, storage, tariffs) and a separate Grid & Industry section for HV and power infrastructure services.
Sources
When we make claims that should be verifiable, we prefer primary sources, including:
- Regulators and official bodies (Ireland/ROI and, where relevant, EU)
- Grid operator and market documentation
- Manufacturer installation manuals and product standards
- Recognised industry guidance on safety and compliance
Where policies or commercial terms vary frequently (tariffs, grants, export payments), we use general wording and point readers to official sources rather than quoting numbers that can become wrong.
Updates
- Guides may be updated as standards, market rules, or best practice evolves.
- Where practical, we include an
updateddate on the page. - If a topic is time-sensitive, we prefer “how to check” instructions over “what it is today”.
Corrections
If you believe something is inaccurate, email Contact with:
- The URL of the page
- What you think is wrong (quote the relevant passage)
- A source we can verify (official documentation preferred)
Advertising and affiliate disclosure
Kilovolt may display advertising (for example, via AdSense) and may use affiliate links on some pages. If we do:
- We aim to disclose affiliate relationships in a clear, non-technical way.
- We do not sell “reviews” and we avoid making performance claims we cannot justify.
- We prefer explaining trade-offs and constraints over recommending a single product.
